Alumnus Pat Whalen delivered the Toast to the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns, an annual tradition at our Burns Banquet.”It is my pleasure to introduce Patrick Whalen to you, St. Gregory’s Academy Class of 2005, and I would like to do so not by talking about his musical soul or his ten-years on active duty in the Marine Corps; nor do I wish to mention his successes as a writer of poetry and scholarly articles; nor do I think his co-founding of some boys boarding school in Kansas is worth much mention (I can’t remember what it’s called anyway); nor shall I give the rundown of his degrees which include a BA in poetry, an MA in literature, and a Ph.D. candidacy; nor shall I dwell on his current post as Operations Assistant to the President of Hillsdale College; his wife Kristi and their four children are certainly worth some mention, but that should suffice.
